Editorial Maldon Life November 2021
Well finally we all seem to be getting back to a greater normality, having held our AGM in October with our Chair Neil Martin into his second year. We are still needing more committee members ( unfortunately we’ve lost a couple recently) so if you’d like to do a little something for the community please come along and join us at our next meeting on Thursday 11th November at 7.30pm. in the jubilee Lounge. You will be made very welcome.
Meanwhile the centre is getting busier and many of our previous groups have now returned but of course we are keen to ensure that everyone remains safe. Particularly as COVID 19 is so prevalent. To that end, we would ask everyone using the centre to remember to keep a safe distance from others, wear masks if possible and continue to regularly wash and sanitise hands.
One of the events being held at the centre is when ‘The Friary Pre School’ are holding a Table top sale on Saturday 13th November1.30 – 4pm. If you’d like to reserve a table they are just £5. Remember places are limited. To book your table kindly contact by email : denise.holden@essex.gov.uk
If you’d like to attend the entrance fee is just 50p with all proceeds going to The National Autistic Society a very worthy cause.
Having successfully held our first quiz night back ( after lockdown) in September we are delighted to remind you that our Xmas quiz is taking place on 20th November. Starting at 8 pm as usual we are once again restricting the number of teams, to ensure everyone’s safety so you will need to pre – book. Some of you have already done so already, so if you’d like to come along and join in the festivities, please book soon. You can either call me on 07823777201 or email me on Raymentdeb@aol.com. If you have to leave a message on my phone please leave a name, contact number and number of people you wish to book for.
Because it’s the Xmas quiz we’ll have a bumper raffle. ( tickets will be available to purchase on entry). This is to ensure we minimise contact. Please don’t sit down until you have paid. Entry will be as always, just £4 a person for the over 16s. Under 16s free. Kevin Briggs will be our quizmaster with 100 questions for us all. Then of course there’s a joker to play on one of the rounds that you think might suit your teams knowledge. It’s always thoroughly enjoyable and of course there will be 6 bottles of wine for the winning team with a small consolation prize for the team with the least number of points on the night. Just a little something to sweeten the moment! Don’t forget to bring along your goodies and nibbles to eat and drink including glasses. Pens are needed although Kevin provides quiz answer sheets. It’s the perfect way to get in the Xmas mood!
Don’t forget Kevin also holds a number of quizzes locally midweek if you’re a keen quizzer, at a couple of local pubs including The Carpenters Arms and The Sunny Sailor, both in Maldon, dates and details will be available on the evening.
On that note I look forward to hearing from you if you need to book for the quiz and hope to see you there.
