Well we’re back from a short shutdown towards the end of August and the centre is back up to scratch even whilst it was in pretty good shape prior. Thank-you to Duncan and Jim for their efforts with the hard work as usual.
The past couple of years have seen plenty of changes with COVID-19 impacting everyone in one shape or form and of course lockdowns during that period, have really restricted what we can all do. It has meant that sadly some of our clients have decided to retire or stop holding their classes/groups due to everything being so difficult to run, whilst others are now using the opportunity to start up new or expand their offerings and join us here at West Maldon Community Centre as restrictions relax.
One of those businesses is the Dawn Payne Academy of Dance. Dawn is an ex professional ballet dancer with over 40 years experience being a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. She offers classes in Cecchetti Classical Ballet, Jazz Modern and Tap to children of all abilities offering those who wish to do so the opportunity to take Cecchetti Clasical ballet exams.
We are delighted to announce that from Tuesday 31st August Dawn has started offering her Dance classes on a weekly basis as follows with the first trial session free:-
3.45pm. Infant Ballet, 3-7 years
4.15pm. Infant Modern 3-7 years/Junior Modern 8-11 years
4.45pm. Infant Tap 3-7 years/Junior Tap 8-11 years
5.15pm. Junior Ballet 8-11 years.
Dancing is such a joyous activity, it improves fitness, deportment, grace and of course helps to build confidence. Children just love it, often dancing well into their adult years. To start learning dance early is a gift that sets you up for life.
Dawn holds shows at the Towngate Theatre Basildon where her students have the opportunity to perform. Her next shows are scheduled for April 23rd, 24th and 30th April 2022. What child doesn’t want that opportunity?
